....so many things in this still life make me want to try to paint them....classically beautiful long stem red roses....wonderful striped fabric and a jug with a striped rim whose colours can be adapted to complement other colours in the painting....stripes perfectly describing folds and contours in the fabric...shadows in blue inspired by the Impressionists and echoing the blue rim of the jug....water in the jug and its glass handle at once altering the pattern of the fabric behind and describing the nature and three-dimensions of the glass....
