This botanical illustration is based upon a botanical illustration by Walther Otto Muller (1833-1877) a German botanist, bryologist, lichenologist, author and botanical illustrator, which was published in Kohler’s Medizinal-Pflanzen....so many things about this illustration make me want to try to paint them...the very aesthetically pleasing form of this sprig of mistletoe....the very aesthetically pleasing way that the botanical details are arranged around the sprig....the very aesthetically pleasing way that the leaves curve around, and the berries sit on the stems....the delicacy of the stems....the way the colours need to be modified to make them realistic...the gentleness and subtlety of the realistic colours....
